Key Ingredients Wrinkle and Blemish Skincare Products Should Have

Wrinkle and blemish skincare products should contain many of the same ingredients. Although blemishes and wrinkles might seem to be totally different things, the compounds known to be beneficial in treating them are not different at all.

There are many different kinds of blemishes. Pimples, age spots, freckles, wrinkles and other skin imperfections may be referred to as blemishes.

Dermatologists learned years ago that creams containing synthetic vitamin A were effective for treating acne. A prescription cream and an oral pill were developed.

At first, the pills were prescribed regularly even for minor cases of acne. They are rarely prescribed today except for the most severe cases, because they are known to cause birth defects.

The creams were fairly successful for acne and were originally approved for treating wrinkles, too. The only problem with the creams is that they cause a wide array of unwanted side effects. Redness, dryness, itching and irritation are common.

It seems that the unwanted side effects are caused by the synthetic vitamin. Natural oils and extracts that contain vitamin A do not cause the side effects. Yet, studies indicate they are just as effective for blemish skincare.

You might be wondering why the use of synthetic vitamins is necessary. It is really unnecessary to use them. It is actually a matter of economics. Companies can keep their costs lower and their profits higher by using a synthetic.

Natural compounds cost more and the quantities available are limited. Synthetics can be made cheaply by starting with petro-chemicals. The quantities available are nearly unlimited.

Vitamin A is also known as retinol. It can be found in Shea butter and avocado extract.

Vitamin E is also good for some blemishes. For example, it is known to prevent age spots. It can be found in Shea butter, grape seed oil, avocado oil, macadamia oil and many other vegetable oils.

The use of acne blemish skincare ointments containing benzoyl peroxide causes dryness. Most dermatologists recommend following the use of the ointment with a good moisturizer.

However, the quality of the moisturizers on the market today varies greatly. Many contain petroleum-based oils that are actually a cause of acne.

The vegetable oils mentioned above are not a cause of acne. They can be used on any skin type and are beneficial for all kinds of blemishes.

The unique antioxidants found in grape seed oil are beneficial for blemish skincare. Not only does the oil contain vitamin E. It contains resveratrol and other antioxidants.

Antioxidants fight free radical damage and in some cases can reverse it. Free radical damage is one of the leading causes of wrinkles, age spots and other signs of aging.

Researchers have tested a number of antioxidants for their effectiveness in reversing sun damage and wrinkles. It seems that the most effective one is coenzyme Q10, as long as the right form of the antioxidant is used. The molecules must be reduced in size in order to provide the benefits.

There are other ingredients that help with blemish skincare. The ones you have learned about here are simply the best.
