When
seating your guests, there are many things to consider about your
wedding seating chart. You want to make sure to seat different groups of people in the best way in order to make your reception as successful and as memorable as possible. You also want to consider what style of reception you are looking for.
Bridal Party
The bridal party is the focus of all receptions, whether it is a casual reception or a more formal one. It is important, no matter what style your reception is, to place the bridal party where it will be the center of attention. In a traditional
wedding seating chart, the bride and groom are in the middle of the bridal party. On the groom's side are the groomsmen, the best man sitting next to the groom. On the bride's side are the bride's maids, with the matron of honor right beside the bride. The entire bridal party is at the head of the room in a row of tables, in order for the entire group of guests to be able to see them.
Family of the Bride and Groom
The next group that is important to seat is the family of the bride and the groom. In the
wedding seating chart you want the family of the newly wedded couple to be close to the bridal party, since they are the next most important group. Again you want the family of the bride to be on the bride's side of the room and the family of the groom to be on the groom's side of the room.
Elderly
It is important to make sure that in your
wedding seating chart you seat the elderly in places that are closer to the doors. This way it is easier for them to get to their seats and to the refreshments without having to maneuver around a lot of tables and chairs. Tables closer to the door are also more wheelchair accessible for those who need assistance getting around.
Families with Children
You want to be sure and put families with children around the edges of the tables. Families with children, similar to the elderly, need to be where they can get to the door of the reception hall easily to change diapers or take out a screaming child. You also may want to seat them towards the back of the room so that if children are running around or screaming, it is easier for everyone else to hear what is going on towards where the bridal party is.
Having a
wedding seating chart and knowing where to sit everyone at a
wedding reception is an important, and often stressful, part of
wedding planning. Sitting certain people in the right places helps to ensure a wonderful and memorable
wedding reception celebrating you and your spouse becoming one. If you still need some more guidance on your
wedding seating chart layout, Toptableplanner.com has a wonderful
