Whether you're an eighteen year old living on your own or an thirty year old living on your own, you need to start searching for a personal support worker if you're not able to care for yourself. You need to find some way to get the help you need by going online or asking friends and family to see if they can help you find someone that would take good care of you.
You can start by searching online immediately because you may have recently been in a car accident and have lost all feeling in your legs so you're trying to get by in a wheel chair, and it's not working out too well. You may have to start by searching online to see if you can find someone that's affordable and you also may want to look into someone that has more experience.
All of the things you want in a nurse may not be what you're going to get. You might not be able to find everything that you require from them in the description that's posted online. You want to at least try to find everything you're looking for the first time around, and the only way you're going to do that is to make a list.
Start by making a list of everyone you see that is in your area and write down a brief description of what their experience is and how they treat their patients. The hard part is searching so by the time that's over, then you will be able to compare everyone that you put down. It's also important that you write down each phone number that goes with each support worker.
It's nice making a list because then you will be able to cross out the people that don't match the kind of help you're looking to have. You want to compare each and every one of them after you have crossed out the ones that are not going to work. You need to make sure they are going to take care of you and you want to see if they're reliable enough to send out on errands to pick your kids up from school or to pick up some groceries. Whatever the case may be, you're going to have to have that kind of help now.
This is a very serious situation you're in. If you can't take care of yourself, then how are you going to be able to support yourself financially. You may find a nurse that will give you some of their own money to buy groceries for yourself or if you have kids. It's not likely that will happen but you need to find someone who will be able to live with you and stay in your guest bedroom in case their are any emergencies.
Hopefully nothing will happen during the night but you could easily hurt yourself especially if you sleep walk when you can't even walk. It's also safer if a nurse stays with you because if something were to happen and no one will be there to take you to the hospital if you need to be, then you may not live long enough to see your next birthday.
As you can see their are dangers if you don't get on the ball and start searching for a personal support worker. These are dangers you want to avoid as long as you have someone staying with you to keep checking up on you and seeing if you need anything.
