No doubt yet there are certain auto safety tips that you can be sure of – to make your auto ownership and basic automobile care and service a trouble free snap. Ten basic auto safety tips are for working with automobiles in the wintertime – whether they are trucks, cars, buses or sport utility SUV vehicles.
1) Take the time and effort to read and even re-read your vehicle owner’s manual from back to front covers for important maintenance, operational and safety information and info tips. Your manual can generally and typically be found in the glove box of your vehicle. Keep it safely and conveniently in place for ready access. If your owner’s manual is missing, when your vehicle was supplied these can easily be replaced at your local auto dealership or even on eBay in these modern internet online times.
2) If you do wish to work on your own vehicle or have some one else who is an amateur do so – fully familiarize yourself with the procedures and safety concerns and procedure as well. In these days and age of highly electronic and technical vehicles and assemblies sometimes it just pays to take the auto repair job to a professional mechanic or specialized auto repair shop or facility
3) When inspecting or servicing vehicles do not smoke or create sparks or electrical sparking. This included leaning under the hood to check a dead battery or using jumper cables to start a non starting engine in the dead of winter. Dangerous hydrogen sulfide gasses linger around charged car batteries. These can spark in a flash causing blinding acid battery fluids to spray. Play it safe.
When boosting car batteries always make the final electrical circuit connection on the dead not the live battery. In addition keep an approved ABC fire extinguisher in your car and shop. Lastly a first aid kit on hand in your vehicle is always a safety first tip.
4) In wintertime if you are going to work on a vehicle - and for convenience and comfort you wish to heat the area or work areas – never use a heater with an open flame or flames. It is better and wiser to use an electrical heater and position the heating source a good distance away from the truck, car or sports utility vehicle.
5) Lastly two tips when working on vehicles in the cold wintertime climate. First do not wear loose clothing, a watch or jewelry when making car repairs. True in cold weather form we offer bundle up and forget that we are wearing additional clothing such as gloves, hats toques and scarves. In addition secure long hair and roll up shirtsleeves. Lastly prevent carbon monoxide CO poisoning in closed auto work areas. Always work in well ventilated areas. No exceptions ever allowed or tolerated. Never run an engine inside an unventilated garage or any enclosed space or spaces.
Overall when working on vehicles in the wintertime the same safety and mechanical concerns must be followed as year round. A moment’s thought and planning can not only get the job done faster and less expensively, its also a lot safer and smarter.

New and even late model vehicles are expensive enough that you want to keep you car, truck or Sports Utility SUV Vehicle on the road and in the best roadworthy shape you possibly can On top of that new cars – although even 4 cylinder motors last a tremendous amount of miles longer than they used to not long along , are hard to work on for mechanics, difficult to diagnose and are basically electronic wonders that can not be simply worked on by almost anyone except your auto dealer
